Q. What was your motivation to volunteer with CASSS?
To get connected with the experts in pharmaceutical developments.
Q. What do you do to relax? Do you have any hobbies?
Hiking on the weekend. I love watching my boys playing basketball games.
Q. What's your favorite type of food or special dish you cook? Why?
I enjoy cooking a Chinese stew dish with a variety of vegetables and proteins. The cooking process mimics chemistry reaction, requiring precise timing and ratio of each ingredients.
Q. What is your favorite movie, tv show, music, or book?
I love the movie "To Live", a Chinese drama film directed by Zhang Yimou. It is a film of a couple who went through harsh conditions and tragedies in their life through Chinese civil war to culture revolution. I am very grateful for what I have now.
Q. What famous person (dead or alive) would you choose to have dinner with? Why?
Marie Curie. I learned her name as a child from my father when I was five. She inspired me to be a chemist when I grew up.
Q. What’s your favorite travel experience?
We went on a cruise ship to Alaska a couple years ago. That trip was amazing and I love the natural landscaping so much.
Q. What would people be surprised to know about you?
I am very bad with plants, they are not happy in my hands although I tried my best to take care of them.
Q. How did you get inspired to go into science/biotech/pharma industry?
When I was young, my dream was to become a chemist when I grow up. I have stuck to my dream until now.
Q. If you did anything other than your current occupation, what would it be?
Maybe a chemistry professor.
