ear
colleagues and friends:
One of the missions of CASSS is to open the worldwide door for young
generation of scientists and help them to attend most important
conferences. Therefore, CASSS regularly allots some funds that are given
to the organizers of meetings such as HPLC, MSB (formerly HPCE), and
others requesting that these funds are used to support travel of
students. Indeed, this approach gives the young people a chance to meet
in person with their already well-established older colleagues and
simultaneously improves the image of CASSS since our logo is present in
all conference materials. This issue of RetentionTimes includes
solicited report from one of these meetings CASSS supported, the 14th
International Symposium on Capillary Electroseparation Techniques, ITP
2004 that was held in Rome on September 12-15, 2004. I attended this
meeting as well and could see on my own eyes that the organizers did an
excellent job in attracting a large number of grad students mostly from
Europe. Their presence was felt everywhere but mostly in the posters
room where they became engaged in energized discussions with, again,
mostly young presenters. Believe me, it was an uplifting experience that
reassured me that the next generation of scientists would soon
successfully carry the relay baton to further heights.
