About MicroScale Bioseparations

The MSB Symposium series is the premier meeting for microscale separation and analysis methods as applied to materials of biological relevance. The 21st International Symposium on MicroScale Bioseparations (MSB) will be held in Vancouver, BC, Canada January 14 – 18, 2007. By providing a forum for novel miniaturized approaches in separation, detection and sample preparation for the life sciences, the meeting bridges cutting-edge technology with current biological and biomedical applications. In addition, capillary and microchip-based separations in pharmaceutical and industrial applications, as well as in drug discovery and biotechnology, will be among the topics discussed. Special emphasis will be given to the use of micro fabricated fluidics devices for integrated solutions to biochemical measurement problems and high throughput measurements. Moreover, an emphasis will be given to the development and use of microscale separations techniques coupled to mass spectrometry. Attendees from industrial and government research institutions and academia are invited to participate in the technical program, which will include keynote lectures, invited and contributed oral presentations in parallel tracks and poster sessions. In addition, an international exhibition by commercial vendors, short courses and workshops on special topics of interest will be included in this exciting forum for scientific exchange.

Robert Kennedy, on behalf of the Organizing Committee

As in past years, the California Separation Science Society (CASSS), a not-for-profit professional association designed to organize symposia and provide other educational and networking opportunities for separation, pharmaceutical and bioanalytical scientists throughout the world, will generously sponsor the Symposium.

The California Separation Science Society (CASSS), is a not-for-profit chromatography discussion group serving separation scientists in California. The purpose of the society is to provide a professional forum for the dissemination of information and technology regarding separation science. CASSS sponsors numerous one-day symposia focused on particular areas of separation science. Several dinner discussion group meetings are held annually in order to address more general topics in analytical chemistry and to provide further networking opportunities. In addition, CASSS sponsors several international symposia and provides student travel grants to many such symposia. Volunteers from the Board of Directors and the CASSS business office implement these programs.
